Conserveries des Cinq Océans (ex Pêche et ¨Froid), one of the main specialists in canned tuna fish, focused since few years ago on its canning activity. Created in 1875, Pêche et Froid was specialized in the beginning in deep sea fishing. The firm diversified its activities by selling canned tuna fish starting 1952 and the Pompon Rouge brand was born. Pêche et Froid was then bought by Compagnie Optorg in 1993. Today, the firm is owned 99.1 per cent by ONA Group, Pêche et Froid changed its company name and became « Conserveries des Cinq Océans ».
It has two production plants: the first one is located in Abidjan in Ivory Coast, the second in Antsiranana in Madagascar. In 2005, Conserveries des Cinq Océans ceded its equity stake in Pêche et Froid Ivory Coast as well as part of its French business corresponding to clients in modern retail distribution.
The activity of Conserveries des Cinq Océans is now focused on selling metal cans in Europe (mainly in France) and easy open lid tuna fish to customers in the out of home catering segment and to industrial customers in the agribusiness sector.
Production is ensured by the Madagascar plant (in Antsiranana).
The out of home catering recorded for the last years strong growth which was accompanied by the come back of the historical brand: Pompon Rouge.
