Maroc Connect has been present on the IT stage since its inception in 1999. It has relied on innovation to foster its growth. Maroc Connect has been a key player in ‘democratizing’ access to the Internet in Morocco thanks to the development of the Wanadoo brand. The company used innovation to target the business market by being the first ISP to launch a VPN IP in Morocco. Marco Connect has consistently sought to influence the market to be forward-looking and on the cutting-edge of technology.
Maroc Connect has entered a new era in its history by becoming WANA, the new overall telecom operator in Morocco. Three main reasons explain how this came to be:
-Obtaining of a land line operator license in 2005 which covered limited mobility services -Entrance of ONA Group in the capital as the sole shareholder -Signature of an agreement with ONE – the leader in alternative infrastructures in Morocco – thus allowing WANA to benefit from a fibre optics network of over 4000km wired in such a way as to connect to the international network
Obtaining the 3G license in July 2006 increased WANA’s flexibility in the telecom industry. This license will allow WANA to significantly enrich its catalogues for both the private and business consumers.
